# Transcoding issue

I have this issue where i see on Now Playing that my plex server is transcoding h264 to h264, not sure why its doing this. Why can’t it just us direct play.

Using a DS1515+ on DSM6

Plex Media Server Version 1.5.3.3580

Look at the setting on your target device, orginal quality might help but also what container/file extension the file you are trying to play is. Also, the direct play enabled depending on the target device.
