# Try to watch plex

K. So I’m cruise around the Hawaiian island and the plex server is in Texas the bite rate suck on cruise ship BUT it does login to plex when I go to watch Firefly series it just sits there never starts playing is there anything I can do to make it play reduce the pixels or what I’m just asking the plex gurus.

You should be able to reduce the resolution/quality in the playback settings of your client.

Cruise ships and hotels are known to have horrible connections – or at least their bandwidth will highly depend on current load, therefore probably fluctuating a lot.

Keep in mind… when you barely connect to your server, the data transferred is text and a few tiny pictures – that’s nothing compared to even low-quality streaming.

This is a situation where plex’s download feature works best. Download stuff ahead of time, or overnight

Ya that would work if I planned on have poor bandwidth. I thought the LAX Doubletree would have good bandwidth they didn’t have crap either so then I thought I would have better on the cruise ship. WOW it’s worse than the Doubletree. Now sitting at the Maui Ocean Center and they’re Wifi stinks too.
