# Trying to fix remote access

Good evening guys I have been trying to set up remote access on my Plex account and server all day.

Initially I had remote access working via the [relay connection](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/) but I wanted to try and have a slightly more direct and secure connection with tail scale when I went to implement these things using Google and AI instructions they did not work.

I bought Plex specifically to be able to access my media away from home without having to download it from my NVIDIA Shield which I am using as a server with an external hard drive attached every time I left home.

Ideally I want a secure tail scale connection between my NVIDIA Shield and my phone or if I can’t have this then I would like a [relay connection](https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay/) as a backup so that my media is always accessible away from home
