Turn off reviews/Cast

Hello all
I’m new to Plex using the web Version 4.56.4 and I’m using a WD My Cloud Home as a server. It seems pretty handy, but one thing I don’t really like is the Reviews/Cast section that shows up on Movie pages.
Is there any way I can remove one, or both? Ideally the reviews. I searched the forum and found some topics saying to use “The Movie Database”, but I still seem to have the reviews.

Someone suggested using Notepad++ to delete metadata, but while I can see the guide I don’t know how to do it or what address I would need to use. It’s at the bottom of this page. How would I do this?

Thanks

You currently cannot disable them.
There’s a feature suggestion asking for an option to disable reviews.

At all? I saw people saying that if you choose “The Movie Database”, then that doesn’t put reviews up but just gives you details instead
Did that change?

I found a way to do it in the browser using the element picker on uBlock and just blocking the review element. Not perfect, but it works here.

I saw some other people saying how you can access the stored metadata that Plex has and delete it, how would you do that?

Not exactly sure. I suppose you can manually edit the database – which means they will probably be re-added when the library’s metadata is updated/refreshed.

Thanks for the quick response! How would I edit the database? I’m using a WD MyCloud Home as the server, I had to download the Plex app onto it.

Not sure if/how it’ll work on that platform. You’ll need an app that can access the SQLite database file which is stored in the local/hidden file system of the My Cloud Home. There’s apps that can handle updates using SQL commands and apps that have a graphical user interface which allow some kind of direct editing of the “tables”.

Keep in mind you should only edit the database if the server is not running. If you change stuff blindly you can easily break your setup for good.

Hmmm, thanks. Not sure I know of any programs that can do that. Well, thanks for the help. I hope a proper solution for this issue is reached soon, since the adblock thing only works on web.

When I googled it earlier I saw people say that using “The Movie Database” as your Agent, you wouldn’t see reviews, but that hasn’t worked for me. I see them regardless

Apologies, this is a different issue but I didn’t want to make a thread about it, is there a way to change the aspect ratio of a video in the Plex web app?
I looked online and they suggested the “Z” key, but it does nothing for me.
For some reason this 1 movie I have gets all squished when I cast it to my Chromecast from Plex.

I don’t think the shortcuts of the client through which you’re casting to the chromecast has any impact on how media is playing on the chromecast

How about just in the web player then? I can’t seem to change the aspect ratio there either, though maybe I’m looking in the wrong places

From what I can tell/find, Plex Web doesn’t have an option to switch the aspect ratio – you might want to check out some of the more powerful players (e.g. Plex HTPC).

I see, shame. Thank you for all the help

Especially when you realize RT is nothing more than a shill site for the movie studios. I don’t value anything any of their critics have to say.
