Ubuntu repo still at 0.9.7.22?

I spotted the announcement about the public release of Plex 0.9.8.4 which is good to hear.  Unfortunately my Ubuntu system isn't upgrading - it's stuck at 0.9.7.22.

As far as I can tell that's the latest version in the Ubuntu repo at http://plex.r.worldssl.net/PlexMediaServer/ubuntu-repo.  Here's the contents of the repository (I've just run sudo apt-get update, which seems to have fetched the latest package list just fine).  Is this an oversight?  Presumably the repository is the recommended way to keep up to date right - I don't need to manually download and install .deb packages?

Yep this is true. The repo hasn't been synchronising correctly since the build environment for the media server died.

I'll go bug someone who can fix this for future releases.

OK, it's not just me then.  It would be good to get this fixed up in this release, as Linux does seem to be a pretty big part of the user base.

I guess for now I can just manually install the .deb for the latest release...

#4

No, definitely not just you the_belgian.

Sending much appreciation to you Mark if you could get that fixed (or get whoever it is that can to do it!)

Have installed the .deb manually, and really looking forward to checking out the Multi User and how it handles DLNA clients!

#5

It's a mess, the whole configuration for the repo was lost, so I need to recreate it all. I just need to find time in my schedule to do that.

#6

Much appreciated Tobias, I'm looking forward to the new features too.

#7

So at the moment apt-get update && apt-get upgrade won't work? (I'm a newbie on linxu). We just have to wait untill Tobias has time to fix it? So we'll be stuck for a bit longer with Version 0.9.7.22 ?

Just download it from plexapp.com

Worked for me, thanks.

Well I did the same and well... It's al gone to hell... When I open plex after the reboot of my server I see my "sections are removed" and if I look in the settings I'm still on Version 0.9.7.22.

This is my installation output:

(Reading database ... 267043 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace plexmediaserver 0.9.7.22.510-8faeab3 (using plexmediaserver_0.9.8.5.165-c301c50_amd64.deb) ...
plexmediaserver stop/waiting
Unpacking replacement plexmediaserver ...
Setting up plexmediaserver (0.9.8.5.165-c301c50) ...
plexmediaserver start/running, process 5319
Processing triggers for ureadahead ...
ureadahead will be reprofiled on next reboot

Where did it went wrong? :s

Anyone get in contact with the repo owner to ensure the latest updates are propagated?

Updating the repo is on the radar, just prioritized lower than crushing bugs at the moment. The reason for the repo not being updated is because the build environment where all plex code is compiled on died and it took some hell of an effort from Tobias et al just to get things compiling bug free again on a new environment. So the repo will come as soon as time permits.

#13

Thanks for the update and all your effort to get this corrected. The manual update method worked for me.

#14

What would be the manual method? Downloading is obvious but, any direction to avoid what happened to DaLuke??

Any clue on when may the uprade be available through the repo?

Thanks,

Will this destroy settings? Like agent settings and such.

Mark

Thanks a lot for the commands! Exactly what I was searching for since the repo needs some work.

#19

Thanks for the commands! Looking forward to being able to update via the repo.

Came here wondering about the repo.  It had actually changed location since my last update.

Just a bump I guess.
