[UI/UX] Total Movie/Show Count Missing - Android TV

Android TV (and mobile) Plex apps are missing total movie/show count in the library views. This is present in every other Plex client I have used (Web, Roku, Windows, new Home Theater client…)

Would be nice to have this feature parity across clients, plus seems like an easy fix/no-brainer.

Bumping

This is a LOOOOOOONG running bug which I really wish they would solve. I sometimes now just fire up plex on roku to get the counts and then go back to the shield afterwards.

Its been reported at least a number of times previously and no one from plex to my knowledge has ever commented on it.

Maybe @DaveBinM could give his perspective on it and/or create an internal bug report for it if one does not exist already.

Yeah, really seems incredibly basic and really disappointing. I don’t understand why this is difficult, or why it is even missing.

To be honest, I can’t stand Android TV/Shield, but I pull it out every month, update the Plex app, and use it for about a week to see if it has gotten any better (you may have seen my recent stream of bug reports in this forum lol.)

I really want to like it, but it is just bugs and missing features galore. (WHY CAN’T I CLICK ON ACTORS STILL???)

Would also love it if someone like @DaveBinM or @ChuckPa or @anon18523487 could comment on this.

Exactly – plex across clients are very different functionally wise, especially when comparing roku and android. I know they are different platforms but still, there should be more synergy between them.

Anyhow, don’t want to derail this thread so lets keep it to showing the counts

Yes, this thread is exclusively about Movie/Show counts. This should be the definition of low-hanging fruit to any dev team.

I know that the actor thumbnail clicking has been brought up a number of times on Reddit/Plex Forums, and every time, the devs say that backend work needed to be completed and/or now that Plex has its own agents, it will be much easier for them to do. What I don’t understand, is why every other Plex client that I have ever used is able to do this. But again, derailing the thread.

I didn’t even bother to post a thread about that, because I already know what that response is. And that feature being missing is the main reason I return to my Roku. All the time, I will pull up a movie with an actor that I like and will want to look at other movies that actor is in.

Bumping this for visibility

I don’t know why this isn’t shown in the mobile client. This is the first time I’ve seen this being asked for. There are other parity issues as well, I’ll add this to the list.

I have not seen these myself.

Another parity issue that we’re already aware of.

Thanks @anon18523487. It may have been buried in one of the those Roku vrs Android threads that come up every now and again.

Anyhow, if you can add it to the parity lists that would be great.

Thanks @anon18523487 - and just to clarify - movie/show count is missing in all versions of the Android client, not just mobile. Thanks again.
