the trail of x’s at the end are substituted into the log to obscure the token which is being passed to plex, so I left them there and so I get a page that has this text on it:
<Error statusCode="401" error="Unauthorized" message="Invalid api token"/>
…and thats an xml coming back from plex saying the token is invalid - because it’s just a string of x’s. But that at least proves that it’s possible to hit that url via a browser and get a response, while PMS, it appears, fails to get a response.
Those lines are similar to the error I am seeing in the OP. If you are both having issues, I’m wondering if there was a firmware update for your Three device that is affecting this.
Not according to your log. It’s going through Plex’s relay (i.e. indirect connection).
I use a modem that wasn’t supplied by Three so probably not the firmware - but it could definitely be their network. I’ve had odd issues like this before - for example, for a month until last week digital downloads of Xbox games did not work. I took the xbox to a relatives house with a different ISP and it worked fine. A week later they just started working at home again. Can’t do that test with this issue now we’re in lockdown, but I have got a fibre connection on order, due to go live on the 8th so if it’s still not working I can test at that point.
Mine was working before lockdown and has stopped about 2 weeks before. Different timings to you @ricklous ? I’m on the provided router but the firmwares up to date?
Is there anything I can request 3 to review? and IP’s they may be blocking?
I to been having problems with setup of Live TV and DVR…It use to work perfectly until the last 3 server updates (about 4 weeks or more). I keep getting unable to fetch guide settings. Everything else works, I can remote, play all my stored video, but no live tv, cause I cannot get past the fetch Guide. On a Qnap TS451 with lastest updates still a no go…
**** update ****
Fixed my problem, has nothing to do with Plex…it was my VPN, it was blocking Guide fetch, As soon as I changed my VPN “bam” Guide was back to working…
I can’t see anything wrong with PMS. I’m still thinking it’s something on your network. I don’t know if it’s your router, a bad network card on your computer, some other software, etc. Something is preventing the call from PMS back to Plex.tv to obtain the guide data.
Are you sure? Since you are using a 4G modem, most cellular service use a networking protocol called CGNAT. This will prevent remote access from working.
Check with your provider and see if they changed anything. Some companies are running out of IPv4 addresses and have switched to either IPv6 or other technique to prevent using up all their IPv4 addresses.
Fixed! Thanks for your support @anon18523487 and @ricklous. @ricklous this may help you as well. After some googling I found this thread https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/huawei-b535-on-3-major-problems.36257/. It appears 3 have made some changes to 4G (and a bit of a mess) while setting up 5G.
I switched my modem to 3g only and everything started working :). the 3g connection is a little slow but can switch between the 2 easily enough if need faster speeds.
Haha, told you so!!! Just kidding. Glad you figured it out. That is odd that they messed up their 4G while setting up 5G. Even if they used CGNAT that would not explain the issues you had or in that other forum thread. They must have put in other types of blocks to keep their new network from blowing up.
Just realised I never came back to update my progress on this.
My fibre went live 8th April and since then all my wonky network issues have disappeared. @sk8brder100 I did try that but it didn’t work for me. One thing I’ve discovered having run my house hold internet through 4G for about three years is your network performance is very dependant on local conditions, so maybe locally Three is barely used on the 3g signal and that’s why its given you the better performance. Who knows!
