Unable to get Remote Access working with BT Smart Hub

Hi there,

I’m hitting my head against a wall here trying to get remote access working.

I’ve search the forum and taken the suggested steps, but I guess I’m doing something wrong.

I’ve set a static IP address for my PLEX server (a Mac Mini).

I’ve setup port forwarding on my BT hub:

Every time i hit Retry, it goes green enabled for like one second, then back to “Not available outside your network”. I guess something it blocking it somewhere.

I’ve already tried disabling the BT Hub firewall and “Extended UPnP security” (as suggested in other threads) but the problem still remains.

Any hints or tips very gratefully received. Thank you.

Darren.

Any help guys? Would really appreciate some assistance. Many thanks.

have you checked the IP for WAN and make sure its not Double NAT?

Thanks for the response. Sorry to be dumb, but can you expand on that a bit more? I’m running PLEX on a Mac Mini. It’s on a wired connection with a fixed IP address. The media resides on a Synology (DS916), again with a single wired connection and a fixed IP.

I have Plusnet and it should be similar to yours.

First thing I did was go into the advanced settings/Port Forward and setup a new game or application

Then I go to settings/Port Forward and add my rule using the dropdown to go to the device

I check the Plex / Settings / Server and it lists

And it works straight off the bat on my phone on a data connection (3).
