Hi all,
I’m trying to playback some 4K HEVC movies with TrueHD Atmos audio on my 1080p Sony Android TV, but when I press play, it displays the loading wheel for a few seconds, then says:
“Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost”
Now I believe this is a player issue on my TV as Plex works fine playing back the same movies on my android phone and also through the web client on a PC…
Playing back any other type works fine on the TV, it only appears to be these 4K HEVC files that the TV is having issues with
I’ve uploaded a log from the Sony TV Plex app in hopes someone can help me out?
I appreciate your reply but it doesn’t address my issue
I have the storage and processing power as indicated by the fact it’s able to transcode 4K to similar resolutions as the TV without a hiccup to other platforms - it doesn’t appear to be even trying to play on the Android TV.
A technical reason as to why it’s failing to play on the Android TV client would be appreciated
I checked as I wasn’t entirely sure… Yes it’s direct playing on the mobile, but also no, it appears to be transcoding when played from the web browser from 4K to 1080p.
This is what’s showing up in the dashboard:
Video
4K (HEVC Main 10 HDR) (hw)
->1080P (H264)—Transcode (hw)
Audio
English (AC3 5.1)
->AAC—Transcode
It looks like this is transcoding 4K to 1080p?
It plays through the web browser but I don’t get a single frame when I try to play it back on the Android TV
After doing some digging the best I’ve found to far is another user TurboGFF in the following thread is experiencing the same issue (same error thrown in the logs too): Playback error on Sony Bravia Android TV since update
I’m starting to think maybe it’s an issue with this particular TV with Plex…
