Server Version#: 4.51.1
Player Version#: 8.12.1.22702
Ever since the update to 8.12 which fixed (yeah!) the bug to allow us to remove an item from a playlist, the player can no longer continue a video if it was paused long enough for a screen saver to turn on. Once the screen saver activates, Plex will only show a black screen unless I back out to the main menu and choose the option from the home screen to continue the file from there. The ability to restart a paused movie without going back to the home screen seems to be gone. I have 3 TV’s (all with the same versions, and different model TV’s) and they all have this issue.
There is a setting for your PMS on how long something can be paused before it is stopped. Do you have that enabled and are you stopping longer than that setting?
Until this update, I had it paused up to 30 minutes without issue. My screen saver a kick in at 5 minutes. As soon as I hit play, the movie file would restart without issue. With this update, once the screensaver starts all Plex will show of the current file is a black screen. Only by backing out of the current file to a Plex menu will it begin sending an image to the TV’s
And let me be clear on something I just realized I failed to be specific about. The sound from the video file will play. It is only the video that remains black. I have to back out to a menue before the Plex resends video to the TV’s.
Oh ok. That’s different. Do you have the refresh rate switching feature enabled? I’ve seen reports where the screen saver changes the setting, but it doesn’t get changed back when it deactivates so Plex is trying to use the wrong rate and so the video doesn’t work.
I’ll have to try and find that setting to check it. But my suspicion is that would not be an issue unless something changed in that part of the code in the last update, since this problem didn’t occur in any of my Plex players or TV’s until this update.
