Hi:
I’m running my PLEX media server on an ReadyNAS 214. It runs splendidly, but the updates require a debian (.deb) update package. Lately, PLEX has been providing their packages to me in a .tgz compressed package. My NAS cannot update my Plex with these packages. This concerns me as my media server keeps informing me that “Updates are available”, but I cannot load them. Could someone please bring me up to speed on this. Are these updates even qualified for my unit? If so, why have they stopped providing debians? Is there a workaround? Etc, etc…

Same problem.
The latest is a tgz which isn’t a Debian/Netgear package. I assume it’s an error but until I can get a .deb update, I’m not going to try applying that update.
And I’ve “skipped this update” twice and it keeps coming back with the same tgz version that I can’t use.

I tried to Extract the tgz file hoping there was a deb inside - but no luck…

Yeah, me too. It’s not a DEB. I’m sure if I tried I could extract it over the top of the installed packaged version manually via SSH but I’d want to take a full backup before I did that, and it might well be a lot of work and break things so I’m not going to bother.
I want the “wrong special episodes play when selected” fix too, but I’m not going to break my install for that. I’m waiting until there’s a DEB, and hopefully an “annapurna” deb which are the ones I normally see/use on it.

Same problem here, I’m not messing around with it and installing what could mess up my Plex. Wev need the Annapurna Deb file!

what is the exact CPU architecture?
ARMv7 SF, ARMv7 HF, ARMv7 + Neon extensions?
(This is how the packages are named now)

When you attempt to load the presented .TGZ file using the ReadyNAS upload feature, a warning dialog is presented that says “Error: Only Debian (.deb) packages are allowed.” and then aborts the installation.

I’ve chatted with my team mate (in packaging).
He’s working with the Build team to get the naming fixed (it was broken when 1.23.0 was released – the new toolchain for building PMS binaries)
They know what has to be done.

Any update on the deb package file for Netgear equipment? Plex still wants me to update to the .tgz file, which it continues to present as a required update, but that file is incompatible.

YES! A lot of us have been asking for an update. It looks like we are going to have to yell louder! I don’t know about you, but this is not what I paid for!
