Updating Plex Causes Output Device to Change in App Volume Device Preferences

Server Version#:1.18.7.2457
Player Version#:Plex for Windows v. 1.6.3.1009

I allowed Plex to auto-update many times over the past several months. Each time, it changed the output back the the system default. App Volume Device Preferences still showed the previously selected device as the current device, and I had to select another and then switch back to the previously selected device to get it working correctly again.

did i post this in the wrong place?

it’s even started to happen when i don’t update now. is this a bug? it’s just manually routing itself to the default audio device, regardless of the sound settings in windows. this is really frustrating because there is no way to choose an audio device within plex, and when i posted on the plex subreddit asking if there was, i was told that it wasn’t needed because i could use the sound settings control panel in windows to do that, but that doesn’t work.

does anyone know a way to hack windows into forcing the audio to route correctly, to prevent plex from doing this?

i searched the forums for where to make a bug report to the developer, and the topics i found said this was the place and to keep bumping until a developer acknowledges it. a developer hasn’t acknowledged this so, bump

bump.

bump.

Output selection preference for Plex player is in the works.
