Reviving a topic that I think is worthy for many reasons to be considered.
Allowing Plex to parse URLs in M3Us directly to point to streaming content (icecast radio, podcasts, network streams, and other URL content). As someone that already uses a HDHOMERUN, is there not a way to allow direct URL link playlists to go directly to another “TUNER” to house radio stations or other media in a similar way? I would even build the XML by hand if this was possible.
I am even open to being able to capture a VLC local stream that plex can tap into which means that VLC does the heavy lifting and Plex just has to tap into it. Worse Case, I can have my Server run 4-5 VLC streams simultaneously and just have plex tap into one of them when I select the M3U file (or TV tune).
I am not sold on it having to be be M3U, but I was just thinking of something that could be easily coded that plex could add to recognition and execute properly. I am sure someone more techy than I could have stated this more concisely, but I think this is an easy add and worthy of thought.
I appreciate your thoughts. Just trying to get a direct, native fix for this.
There’s already a number of related suggestions addressing these topics… although Plex have stated they’re not pursuing this kind of integration (which isn’t to say this might change at some point).
I searched prior to posting. Sorry it is a repeat"ish" topic. Nothing immediate popped up with Plex’s search bar. Although with this being a repeated topic (using Google search engine), what I believe that shows is this is a necessary feature. I understand this may be a “here’s another request that we have stated we are not doing” topic, but looking from another perspective, I hope Plex sees this as…
“Wow, we really should do this since the demand is so high for a feature that makes sense.”
Ideally, it really shouldn’t be that difficult to implement. I’ll be patient, but this really should be reconsidered at this day in age. It really would make Plex the ultimate system and shatter the competition.
