As a server manager, I want the ability to leverage my GPU/hw acceleration when transcoding to generate preview thumbnails. Ideally, this would “just work” based on the chosen hw acceleration option from the Transcoding menu. ---

There’s already an existing suggestion asking for an option to use the GPU / hw accelerated transcoding (incl. tone mapping if applicable) for the preview generation. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
