> HOW can I tell Plex to truly follow the ID3 tags in this case

By enabling “Prefer local meta tags” in the properties of the Plex library.

It’s also important to direct the library to your folder `M:\Music\Lossless`
and not just `M:\Music`.

Verify that the `Album Artist` meta tag in your files has 100% identical content in all tracks of an album. Check for “invisible” characters, like Space etc.

After checking the above, you want to perform the [Plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064) “light” (meaning you can omit step 4).
