# Various Artists

Hi,
I have checked all my tags but my various artists albums are showing up as individual tracks. I want them to naturally merge. Is there something i’m missing here? It worked a few months ago and recently something changed.

Please show the folder structure and don’t crop the column headers for your embedded metadata.

Do I see that right, is the folder ‘Various Artists’ completely outside of ‘Music’?
Or is that just a temporary folder and you have another folder named ‘Various Artists’ inside of ‘Music’?

Yep, just a temp folder outside of music which i’m using to drag albums back and forth while i find out the problem. I’ve just added compilation tags too but that is also not doing it.

I took another look at the bottom screenshot: the numbers at the left side are totally misleading.
Your metadata don’t have any track numbers. Add them, then perform the [Plex Dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-incorrectly-identifying-tv-episodes/100265/4 "Plex Dance") “light” (omitting step 4) and all should be well.

Ah. Can they all be labelled ‘1’ so that when i add new tracks i don’t have to redo numbers?

I don’t think so. You should avoid creating “custom albums” and use playlists and ‘stars’ to mark your favorite tracks.
If you abolutely have to, add each new track with an incremented track number.
