Just a bump if you’ve had a chance to glance at the logs
After re-reading the thread, it looks like I don’t have enough network skill to understand why either the client or host is closing the stream connection over and over.
You did a good job enumerating the problem.
As you have a Plex Pass and probably want to get this sorted,
you might consider the new PMS beta-1.18.2.2015 and see how it works,
or roll back to whatever previous version was good for you. Do you recall it, 1.16?
I tried rolling back–no luck. Trying beta now, guess I’ll see. Emby seems to be running the same files Plex has issues with so I’m starting to doubt it’s specifically my network but something else.
Part of me suspects that Plex uses more bandwidth than I initially thought–as it happens most frequently at ‘peak times’ in my house, where many users are utilizing internet (and we don’t have the best internet out in the country).
However, I’m pretty damn sure it’s not my internal network. I have Unifi/Ubiquiti 1g network throughout–and I see no throttling/issues when I look at the Unifi controller. I’m not quite sure why Plex would ‘need’ to be utilizing a high amount of external traffic as my files are local obviously…but it seems to be. Weird design, could be why Emby works fine.
Another example of Emby working well is for playing Hi-Res Flac audio in 24/192. I hope to get that documented and working soon too.
On your issue though, I’m curious if you’ve had any luck with PMS beta?
Would love to see some log files against that, maybe get some more eyes on this.
