Videos using the multiple parts feature in Plex to not continue to the 2nd part

Plex for Android does not play stacked (multiple files) parts.

It should. Does the movie show up properly as stacked in Web?

Please recrate the issue and provide a long from the app and from PMS.

Thanks for looking into it. It’s showing as stacked on the Android phone app and the Plex webapp. They play just fine in the webapp, but not my Android phone app. I have tried this on both Android tablets and phones – all display the same issue.

Can you please give me a how-to on the logs you need and where I can securely upload them?

Android, Android TV, Fire TV Logs | Plex Support

I am very surprised that there is a request for logs here.

Stacked content is not playing with the new Plex player for quite some time now…

… @BigWheel acknoledging it being in the long list of things to be looked at.

Stacked content cannot be played on FireTV properly, too.

Ah ok. I was not aware of that thread or that the issue had already been acknowledged.

Hope that this bug (ie. lack of feature) gets some attention soon.

I still don’t understand why people have multi-part files. It’s like trying to put a square peg into a round hole. Just cut the thing round and get it over with.

I don’t understand why Plex supports stacking officially but Plex player not being able to play it correctly…

Just make your own player engine handle this correctly instead of forcing thousands of users to change their behavior.

It’s not the first time I read a Plex team member comment like “you users should just behave differently”… Plex own naming convention tells us (including @anon18523487 ) what is good naming convention.

It is the buggy player we need to talk about, not the users…

I get that it’s a feature users use and should get fixed. I’m just curious why users would put themselves through the trouble.

For my part - pure lazyness. No intention to find the movies that are split and stacked, not willing to find out how to use my Android tablets or FireTVs to merge them. They are not broken, so I see no sense in fixing them.

Will you now acknowledge it’s an issue? There are still a lot of legacy content that is broken into mutliple parts (700MB each) to fit on CD-Rs.

This issue was acknowledged previously by another employee and the issue was reported to the Android team. Still waiting for them to fix.

Cool – how long has this been pending for (just curious)?

Also, can you please verify this is acknowledged on the Android mobile app? I see the NVidia Shield one is acknowledged, but not Android mobile.

The problem is with the new player so both platforms is affected and both will get fixed.

Has there been any progress with this? This still happens on Android

Still not implemented. I have no new information to share.

Still no update ? With Lord of the ring 4k edition you have a good example of 2 files movie.

This issue bugs me also. A lot of my legacy movie collection is split files. Nvidia shield as main player, also use Chromecast. Please Plex fix it!

Plugging a laptop into the TV is a pita, as is finding and combining files and rescanning library etc.
