# Weird playback issue - Hisense U7 VIDAA

App name: Plex for VIDAA  
Client version: 5.52.3  
Platform Version: V0000.06.10M.M0901

I bought a new Hisense U7 TV yesterday, running VIDAA OS, and have just discovered a weird playback issue when using plex.

If I try to restart, or watch something that I haven’t watched before, the playback crashes after a few seconds.

If start something that is part way through, it plays back without issue.

If I start the media and fast forward slightly before it crashes, the playback is fine, I can then even rewind to 00:00 and it plays back without issue.

I can start media from a friends server fine, all his content is 720 max resolution. My media is1080p/4k.

I have tried to disable direct play, forcing it to use direct stream/transcode and it just buffers constantly.

Also, probably unrelated, but album art, and background images won’t show if prefer insecure connection is selected. I have tried setting DNS to 8.8.8.8.

Playback is fine on other devices, both local and remote.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this  
It’s driving me nuts.

I found a similar playback issue on my TV - appears to happen only with HDR content - where video stops playing after about 2 or 3 seconds. Non-HDR content appears to play without a hitch.

Only workaround I found (and as you mentioned) was as soon as the video starts playing, skip forward (30s) - then skip back 3 times (10s \* 3) to go back to the start - then movie playing fine from the beginning.
