# Weirdness with TV Casts Thumbnails

Hi folks,

Hoping someone can help me with this problem I’m seeing. I’ve been using plex for years now running on a ubuntu linux and streaming to web browsers and a roku defect but I always seem to have trouble with cast thumbnails. I have four libraries setup …

- Movies
- Movies - Animated
- TV Shows
- TV Shows - Animated

My agents are setup using

- Settings -\> Agents -\> Movies -\> Plex Movie + Local Media Assets (in that order)
- Settings -\> Agents -\> Shows -\> TheTVDB + Local Media Assets (in that order)

The plex movie settings are also set

- Cast List Source -\> The Movie Database
- Rating Source -\> IMDB
- Plot Summary Source -\> The Movie Database
- Country -\> Ireland

**Now to my problem:**

Cast thumbnails load I would say 100% of time the for everything in the libraries Movies and Movies - Animated, these are never a problem. I have over 1000 movies total so I have not checked them all but I never notice them missing.

However for a few TV Shows and and especially TV Shows - Animated there is some odd behavior. If I do a full refresh all metadata on all four of the libraries some load the cast thumnails (not all). However, if I then go into an individual show, say Voltron: Legendary Defender as an example and do a refresh metadata for that one show the icons that were present are removed. There is no letter icons, they are all just blank which I believe is the result of plex not matching the icon thumbnail correctly.

Oddly if I refresh the entire 4 libraries again they return but again only partially with some not loading.

Has anyone seen this before and know how to resolve it ?

So I managed to workaround this problem. The issue appears to me to be a mismatch between casts downloaded via TheMovieDatabase and the ones downloaded via TheTVDB.

I set my TV Show libraries to use the TheMovieDatabase instead of the TheTVDB and boom now they all load without any problems.

I however wish there was a way to use the TheTVDB as my main source and TheMovieDatabase for cast on TV Shows like we have movies were we can set the specific cast list source I want.
