Last week I installed v.0.9.1606.1993, with my main intent was to use it on the local home network only as we are pretty off the grid and only have cellular internet capabilities and chew through our 40 Gig monthly allotment pretty quickly. All worked well connecting to my android phone, 2 i-phones, and android tablets as well as i-pads. We were able to connect and watch movies on all devices, as I was expecting, but wasn’t able to get the Plex app on my PS3, or Plex app from Roku to connect. However, I assume it was due to the upgrade to v.1.0.0.2261, but I am not able to get any device to connect, and I have been through a ton of the trouble shooting documents. I am debating on re-installing v.0.9.1606.1993, but want to know if there is anything that can be done with the latest version to allow local network access only (i.e. not setting up the remote access). At the very least if I can get things working on the i-pads again my kids and wife would be happy.

Have you set the Plex server for preferred secure connections and the clients the same?
I’ve tried it in iterations of all 3 settings Required, Preferred (which was where it was at when I started) and Disabled. I observed no change with the different settings, both with or without making the concurrent changes on the devices with the apps that I am testing with. Anything else I can check?
OK, I just redid the test above, and I was incorrect, there was a change in functionality based on the different settings and in Disabled I cannot even see the server from the device. However, When the apps see the server they all say “Direct connection unavailable”, and all the trouble shooting steps I have read on that were around Remote Access and I don’t want to allow remote access.
Please explain how you have your network topology configured.
I’m not a great network guy, but let me try and explain.
Modem/Router 1: AT&T Unite Pro (cellular Myfi device) I have UPnP turned on, it also has VPN passthrough enabled as I use it to work from home, as well as DHCP enabled (but I’m not going to post my available IP range here). The DNS mode is set to Auto and the DMZ is NOT enabled. Wifi access only.
Router 2: Asus Dual band, mainly used as a wifi range extender so it reaches throughout the house.
All my household devices get on the network via wifi except the Tablo DVR as it is wired to router 2.
The Tablo has no issues reaching all devices and we can watch our DVR and live tv from all devices, however I was hoping to do the same with the Plex and all our movies.
I have tried getting the Plex working by turning off the second router, thinking that there might be something strange caused by it, but like I said when I had the last version of Plex I was able to connect to “Most” of my devices, with this new version I cannot connect to any of them.
