I have found that some of them just wont rip though. Matrix for example only rips half the movie and Blu rays are very hit and miss about whether they work at all.
I have yet to find a DVD or Blu-ray that cannot be ripped with combination of MakeMKV & Handbrake.
The ones that arrive broken are difficult, if not impossible to rip. I love the super-glue on them. Itās amazing some people think that will actually work.
Sorry, but Iām going to necro this thread because I think the history above is still relevant to the discussion. I have a slightly different approach/question.
I want to BUY a movie, download it legally in a DRM-free format, and add it to my Plex library. Is this possible? (It would be acceptable to have DRM which Plex is compatible with, such that Iām still entitled to play the movie on any of my devices through PMS. But DRM-free is better!)
short answer: still no.
long answer: you might find some independent movies/shows available for purchase on various places, but I am not personally aware of any.
You are not going to find any blockbuster/hollywood movies for download, especially without drm, outside the already mentioned major streaming services, which may allow for downloaded/offline content, but nothing that will play in plex.
