# Which client devices allow syncing / downloading?

I wish to purchase a client device (for connection to a television) for use at my parent’s house. The internet connection is probably not fast enough to permit live streaming, so I’d like to buy a device that permits syncing / downloading.
Cloud sync isn’t a solution, because it’s the DOWNLOAD connection at my parent’s house that is slow.
But I don’t know which client devices actually permit downloading / syncing - apart from the ones I have tried in the past.
For example, I know that Android and iOS mobile devices (phones and compute sticks) permit syncing, but my parents will not be able to use those. I also know that AppleTV 4 does NOT appear to permit syncing - despite costing a fortune.
Is there a list of which clients support downloading / syncing?
(I’m asking this question in “General” because it rally applies to all clients)

Only the ‘mobile’ clients allow Syncing.
iOS, Andoid and the Plex App from the Windows Appstore. (Take a closer look at the ‘UWP’ app for Windows 10)
Is your parent’s internet connection so slow, that even Cloud Sync is out of the question?

Thank you. Yes, the connection IS that slow - it’s down to 1 Mbit/second at some times, assuming no-one else is using the connection.
I presume, therefore, that the Roku and Amazon Fire TV will both support downloading, as they are both running Android.

The Roku does NOT run Android, but Roku’s own OS and doesn’t support downloading/syncing.

Absolutely not. It is named ‘Mobile Sync’ for a reason. Sync is normally only supported on phone and tablet devices. The only exception _may_ be the UWP app on Windows 10. (Though I cannot guarantee it is going to stay that way.)
