Who wants more subtitle options?

We can change size but that’s about it. How about putting the subtitles anywhere we want on the screen, i.e. my desire is at the bottom of the TV screen, not just the displayed picture. This would mean those movies that have black bars above and below they would appear there rather than compressed and scaled with the movie.
This is not the first time this has been requested (see the forums), however, hoping to get some more interest in the matter via a vote.

Since they use the native video player there’s not much they can do. You can change some of the subtitle settings in the ATV native Settings > General > Accessibility

Not really. Don’t have to use native. Just look at the options you get when you run Infuse by FireCore. Many options and tweaks for placement. It does play them in the black area below the movie. Really can’t see why Plex can’t adopt the same subtitle output method. Even the VLC App plays them lower. It is the obvious thing to do if you can (which Infuse proves you can), a standard screen position placement no matter what you are playing.

Those both don’t use the native player, though. You’d need to get Plex to integrate their own player (I even suggested this in the Apple TV forum area), and until then this won’t happen. Also this section is very barren, so it’d be better posted in the real Apple TV area as this isn’t really related to the beta test.

Exactly this. And right now integrating a new video playback stack is not in our roadmap, sorry  We’ll continue relying on Apple’s native player for the time being.

Yep, agree

Thanks anyway for your feedback!

Fair enough. Thanks for explaining guys!
