Why .apk Plex Media Server update?

Novice question: As I understand it, an APK file is an app created for Android, Google's mobile operating system. Why am I being nagged to install an .apk Plex Media Server update on a Network Attached Storage device attached to a Microsoft Windows 7 PC? The update is: plexmediaserver_1.9.0.4252-d07c1f408_x86-64.apk
If this is a legitimate update on a Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, how do I manually install it?

Do you have a QNAP box by any chance?

If you installed the Plex Server software directly onto your NAS, then yes. It will prompt you to install an APK file. Because in this case the server is running on your NAS, so it needs software which is adapted to its particular architecture.

Yes, the server software is installed on an Asustor NAS. What software do I need to install these ,apk updates on it?

Sorry, I can't tell you that. This is the Windows Forum.
