Why are Cable Card TV Tuner development ignored?

I have been a Lifetime Plex Pass member for many years. I have enjoyed my HD Homerun Prime for many years. Unfortunately it’s getting a bit old in the tooth and there does not seem to be much in the way of replacing it. Silicon Dust discontinued all the cable card appliances so upgrading is not an option.
There are competitors though.
Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-3250 and Centon InfiniTV. Not sure if there are others but at least we have a few options. From what I’ve been able to gather from google everyone seems to suspect Cable cards are going extinct. Is this true, are we going to lose Live TV within Plex?
If we are losing Cable cards then I get it to a certain degree, why waste resources on a dead tech. If it’s not or at least not for the time being, then how difficult is it to add support for something that can be useful to members?

I use a Infinity Cable Card and it works great. I had it before Plex and used it with Windows Media Center. I have the internal card in my Unraid NAS Server which runs a Windows VM that I use for the Card and the proxy app that makes the Infinity channels available to Plex as a HD Home Run tuner. I have been using this setup for about 3 years now without any issues.
