Why do some movies use IMDB ratings instead of Rotten Tomatoes?

This never used to be a problem. My ratings is set to Rotten Tomatoes in the library settings, and also in the “Plex Movie” agent. Yet half the time (maybe more) newly added movies will have a worthless IMDB rating instead of RT.

WHY

In my opinion and I’m guessing here is mostly having to deal with the API of Rotten Tomatoes and/or how the Plex Movie agent works to get this information.

What I’ve learned is, no matter how successful you’ve been in adding content properly with the proper metadata, you’re getting the useless IMDb Score and I couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t know how this happens fully but I can guess.

I’ve akways had this issue. It’s super random too. But yea I’ve always had the occasional IMDB rating since the RT ratings were rolled out as part of the metadata.

Hell, it’s at least 50/50 for me now. Probably more IMDB than RT at this point. Really frustrating.

I don’t get the API excuse either. What is iTunes doing differently? Because they always have the RT rating there.

I tried to find the reason this was happening here:

I still think it’s tied to the Plex Movie meta agent and the lack of info on some XML pages.

I’d love to have a Plex employee look into this or at least comment.

I agree. It used to me a one off but it’s happening regularly now. I didn’t notice because I can’t focus on anything other than the fact that all my plex clients either show no actor metadata (Android tv) or incorrect actor data (iOS).
