# Why is the PMS web interface behind app.plex.tv?

I’m curious why the web client interface I get locally from PMS is older/different from the interface at [https://app.plex.tv](https://app.plex.tv)  
I have a PlexPass subscription and am on the beta channel, on the latest PMS version.

Simply put… the hosted version ([https://app.plex.tv/desktop](https://app.plex.tv/desktop)) can be updated by Plex on its own. The bundled version installed locally with your server can only be updated along with the server – this means Plex needs to (a) include those packages into a server release and (b) consider dependencies or other pitfalls.
