thought you could play your media on your pc with the app with no activation, I downloaded the free plex app for window 10, but it is asking for plex pass or 4.95??
You can play any media you want via the web app or PHT for free on your PC
the App store app is free to download so you can test that it works before purchase but as it says in the description of the app to unlock streaming from a PMS it cost $4.99 for the app.
To be clear the one time $4.99 activation/unlock purchase is not a Plex Pass subscription. it only activates/unlocks streaming to the app.
If you do have a subscription which can be gotten from our website for your account. one of the benefits is access to all of our paid apps without extra cost as long as the subscription is active by signing into the app with your Plex account that has the Plex Pass subscription ( if your subscription expires so does access the the apps )
Thanks, it actually does not explain it that well in the app info, it just has a little line that says activate app 4.99. Also then I’m not sure why you would use the app and not just the web app don’t see any advantage to it.
The dedicated app has better codec support and would not require transcoding for the more types of things it can play. a web browser can only play h264 MP4s really natively so would need transcoding for most other things which if you have a low powered server computer you may not want it doing so much.
a purchase of the dedicated app is also for the windows phone app if you have that which most folks find more desireable to use than a web browser on a phone

I paid for my Windows 10 Plex app from the Microsoft Store a long time ago. The app now asks me to activate. I searched the Microsoft Store for Plex but can no longer find it. Please help. Thanks.
