# Windows hardware decoding detection not working

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
Player Version#: 1.108.1.307-dd5b87aa
My server has AV1 transcode support, however when playing AV1 encoded files on a Windows client without AV1 decode support, it generally chooses direct stream with no way to force transcoding. This causes poor performance.
I would expect that when the “Use Hardware Decoding” box is checked on the client under Player settings, the server will transcode to a format supported by the client.
In the Plex.log file, I see that hardware decoding is correctly detected as unavailable. I have attached a portion of the log file.
