Regarding [transferring an install](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/) from Windows to Linux, [slightly dated forum topics](https://forums.plex.tv/t/how-to-transfer-plex-library-from-windows-to-linux/90633/7) mention porting over 4 folders (`Media`, `Metadata`, `Plug-in Support`, and `Plugins`); however, [third-party plugins will no longer be (officially) supported](https://support.plex.tv/articles/201053748-overview/). Is it necessary/recommended to still include [EDIT] _removing plugin-specific databases/directories from_ `Plug-in Support` _(for plugins that are no longer in use)_ and `Plugins`, and if not, what of the sub-directories within `Media` and `Metadata` that contain plugin-specific directory names for the dated plugins? No need to continue to waste unnecessary space.

Apologies if this has been made mention elsewhere in documentation/forums.

Use this guide:

> [@Linux Tips](https://forums.plex.tv/t/linux-tips/276247/23):
>
> Migration from another OS to Linux Cross OS migration is a multi-level process. Copy the PMS databases and metadata Update all the media locations to point to their new locations. Prerequisites - On the originating host Settings - Server - Library Turn off: Scan my library automatically Run a partial scan when changes are detected Include music libraries in automatic scans Scan library periodically Empty trash automatically after every scan Stop Plex ZIP up the “Plex Media Server”…

You need to move the `Plug-in Support` folder as it contains your database!
Don’t mess with the `Media` and `Metadata` folders.

Doh, of course. Thanks, @tom80H. I’m editing the original post, but I should have specified it to “removing plugin-specific databases/directories for plugins that are no longer in use”. I had to manually remove ([per this Reddit thread suggestion I found](https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/mz1bqg/cant_uninstall_subzero_plugin/)) to clean up dated plugins that are no longer in the system.
