Xbox Series X app not finding the media server

Server Version#: No idea. it updated like half an hour ago!
Player Version#: Plex for xbox 5.83.1

So my xbox is wired directly to my router. My media server (running on windows pc) I have just had to change the wiring from an LAN port on the router to the corresponding port on a Google Nest (which is wired direct to the router) Now my xbox will run plex but the media server is unavailable.. It is available however on my mobile device and my laptop. I’ve tried disconnecting the lan cable and connecting the server wirelessly but the same result. I have followed the help page, logging in and out of server and apps etc and landed at the bottom on the post in our forums section. Anybody got any ideas please?

IIRC, Nests tend to create their own subnet. So if the Xbox is connected to a different router, this might be considered a remote connection.

You could attempt to make your Plex Media Server aware that there’s a 2nd subnet inside your home network (Settings > [Server Name] > Network > LAN Networks).

In general you should get better results if you avoid segmenting your home network.

Thank you Tom. Apologies but where am I doing those settings? I hadn’t touched this for a while looking for other software solutions and getting nowhere but then today switched on the media server pc and the xbox and as if by magic, it was all there. I watched one programme, went onto a game for half an hour, then back to plex - exactly the same issue. “Plex media centre is currently unavailable”. Back to square one. Thanks for your help

I think the xbox is on server VMxxxxxxx and the media server is on VMxxxxxxx 3 which is probably the subnet you refer to. I don’t have any other way of connecting this up though so how do I make the server trust the other subnet?
