XPlay (WebOS)

Ok I just double checked something and True HD 7.1 is working on a different title… This is a very strange one… Also if I use the plex app it will play the audio… But I can not direct play the video so it’s transcoding and forcing lower quality.

if you have a Dolby Digital 5.1 as track2 and leave XPlay on the TrueHD (track1), Plex will auto play track2 if the client does not support TrueHD ie your LG TV. It direct plays fine, I do this all the time, just remember both have to same audio language.

this is how it play the core, a lot similar to DTS-HD and DTS core, but in that case the core is just played, as the HD is just extra meta tagged on top of the core, in the case of TrueHD it need the core in track2, as TrueHD has no core as such.

Hi
Sorry for long silence …
Anyway … Im still here and work on update
I’ve rewrote source code to use different library for less memory consumption and better UI perfomance.
Still need to port some 3rd party algorithm (for eg arrow keys UI navigation).
Ive also already ported photo viewer (player).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBI2eHD9QgY

Playback queue handling was improved while porting photo viewer.
PS
Anyway there alot of logic problems because of PMS limits that I could not fix using own algorithm

BUG - AAC 2.0 files on Plex for LG 2017 OLED TV only play sound from the left speaker

Hi!

Tried it & bought it 5min after, exactly what I was looking for (No transcoding feature), thanks!

Btw is there any way to launch a movie directly from my smartphone (Plex app?) on my LG TV (on Xplay) instead of using my LG remote ?

Just tried on my LG 2017 TV, I can load plex and choose a user, but then I just get a spinning wheel. Is this because I’m running the plex server on secure connections (the TV is on a remote network to the server).

You can add the IP of the client to the server and whitelist it so it doesn’t need secure connection. You need to set security to “preferred”.

I’ve got it set to ‘preferred’ and added the IP address of the remote network to both ‘LAN Networks’ and ‘List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth’ in the NETWORK section of the server.

Still no joy, any ideas?

LG OLED TV 55C7V Firmware 03.60.15:

Issue: When I play a video in Direct Play and with subtitle, Xplay always plays the first subtitle available instead of the selected subtitle. E.g.: I wish to play French subtitle but it plays always English subtitle (the first one in the list).

Same video plays with embedded LG player works.

Thanks.

Hey how can we add more translations? or help you add some?

Is there a way to disable the immediate autoplay of the next episode when a show finishes?

Testing Xplay Demo.

Seemed to be working fine, finally able to test 4k without transcoding.
.
Tried to test subtitles, after I enabled them within a program Xplay alerted that the video “could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed, or because the format is not supported”

I was presented with a pop up with a close button and an X on window, neither worked to dismiss this dialog.

I switched to another app and came back to Xplay, now the dismiss pop up worked, but I tried to start playback again with subtitles enabled and it fails, and again I can not dismiss unless I switch apps and come back again.

Once I disabled subtitles the program played fine using Xplay.

If I use the LG Store Plex app or the DLNA player the program plays fine with or without subtitles, I can easily switch on and off.

Great alternative to Plex. Just bought it 30 mins ago. I have a question though, what is the latest version?
I the version I have is 1.2.8, last updated on 03/02/2017. Is this the last one?

@bublikoff
I noticed that Xplay is transcoding when subtitles have no language:
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: srt]

Same subtitle with language chosen plays fine:
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: English [eng] (srt)]

Does anyone else get a 500 error at the end of a show/movie? It’s like it cannot find the server but as soon as I restart the app it finds it.

Wow, you might be onto something here … I wondered why SOME of the SRT subtitles in a video file require transcoding and some not… very annoying. Lately I was watching Start Trek Discovery which had the following subtitle options (T stands for the red “transcode” mark):
GERMAN (SRT)
GERMAN FORCED (SRT) (T)
ENGLISH (SRT)
ENGLISH FORCED (SRT) (T)

So while ALL subtitles are SRTs which should not require transcoding two of them do - unfortunately exactly the ones I needed (forced only). The normal ones played fine without transcoding

@bublikoff : is there a way to fix this so that ALL SRT subtitles can be played without transcoding?

K.

Open the .mkv in MKVToolNix and click on the subtitle. You can then select the language. When it’s undetermined Xplay is transcoding.
Choose a language or change the forced option and save the .mkv.
Always woks for me.

Somehow Xplay expects these settings and if they differ the video get’s transcoded. Hope this will be fixed soon.

Does XPlay stream 4K content, does it work with HDR, etc. as well? I have several 4K TV shows on my PC. If XPlay does do 4K content, is there a way to tell if the show is playing in 4K while watching it?

Edit: By the way I have an LG 60UH7700.

IPS Panel, HDR Super w/ Dolby Vision™, TRU Black Panel, Quantum Display, Ultra Luminance, 4K Upscaler

Posted issues here, sent email, no reply…

In some ways a better app than the Native Plex App, but I’ll hold onto my $10 for now…

I have a LG OLED55E6V and XPlay. Yes, it does stream 4k with HDR…
I can tell about the real quality while playing using LG menu. When I use direct play, the program always streams 4k+HDR . XPlay even streams wireless (wireless ac1900) Bluray HEVC 4K with bitrates till 50Mb/s… (with 60Mb/s it stutters)

Guys, some question about your settings with Xplay :

  • Have you been able to activate Ultra HD Deep Color ?
  • Have you been able to modify Black Level ? (Greyed out here)

Thanks for your help!

my LG only supports wireless N, and I connect @ 300Mbits, the only UHD movie that tv stutter slightly is with Lucy, but well over 120Mbits peak
