Data Rate Drop out HDHOMERUN Connect - mpeg 2 stream completely becomes bit starved

Anyone else having a similar issue? All my shows all day have this problem…They start fine and look good…you go halfway through the mpeg 2 recorded show and its all garbage. Its not a signal issue…opening HDHOMERUN Config GUI I can see that the network rate has dropped to nearly nothing…it will sometimes spike to 3 mbps for a second but then back to 0…hd is 7 mbps or there abouts continuously. If i break the recording and stream directly to vlc on the same computer as my plex server i have no issues 7 mbps across the board…anyone have any ideas?

Deleted and readded the tuner…still have the same issue…records for about 1-2 minutes fine…then dies

So even my perfect channel has this issue…98 % signal quality and still dropping after a few minutes

Copy of PBS News hour i was recording…perfect recording in the beginning…completely stops working later

Everything before today was fine…everything today broken…rebooted twice and plenty of storage on all drives…would love any help

Just tested live tv - it does not have this issue at all

EDIT: Went through a few more troubleshooting steps…reinstalled plex server, tested recording directly to main ssd …always 30 seconds to a minute and it stops the correct data rate like the plex server gives up on it

Also transcoding has no effect… Will still break 1-2 minutes in

I’m getting a similar issue, all recordings after a minute or two are corrupting in some way and usually end up looking like this…

Yep that’s the same issue

I’ve not had time to have a proper dig around but it happens with EVERY recording. I’ve tried with and without transcoding as well. This is on a Mac with the latest PMS.

Might be a completly different issue, but I previously had a problem with my HomeRun connected to a auto-sensing switch. For some reason, the stream would start ok, but then the streaming network connection would drop. Changing the port on the switch from auto to 100Mb fixed it for me.

Same l… I’m on Windows with latest pms and its every single video

Live video is unaffected unless you are recording at the same time then you have the same problem.

same with bauppauge solohd

My hdhomerun is on an unmanaged switch that goes to my security gateway…i can stream the channel fine over vlc so I don’t think that is the issue

I had this same issue back in February. The only way I could make it work was to turn remux off and save as a .ts file. It was repaired in a future release of PMS.

However, since the newest versions don’t allow saving files as .ts anymore that remedy won’t work.

Only thing I can recommend is to install an older version of PMS and when the new release comes give it a try and hope it’s been fixed. You’ll lose the Live TV feature but your shows should record.

I was having the same issue as described above where my recordings would look exactly like shown in the pictures above, they would be fine at the start and then get corrupted and be unwatchable after a few minutes. Originally I had thought this was related to having Plex transcode the files automatically. Once I turned that setting off and had it no longer re-encode my files in Plex I haven’t seen the issue since. My recordings have been fine and that was with one of the early DVR betas a few months ago. I realize this isn’t going to help much since others have stated that transcoding doesn’t seems to have an effect on it but if it helps the Plex team in anyway I wanted to share my experiences. I run Plex on MacOS using the HD Home Run Connect.

I’m not transcoding my shows and it’s still happening.

I know that. I said at the bottom of my post that it may not help much as others have said that transcoding or not doesn’t seem to have an effect, but I wanted to share my experince if it helps the Plex team resolve the issue in anyway.

Apologies - yes i get your point. The containering into MKV could easily be the issue as Live tv on ipad seems to be unaffected by this issue…if you are also recording while live tv on the same tuner the issue presents

Uninstaller 1.7.2 and reverted to 1.7.1…no difference
