Now that we have Premium Music content, please can we have an option to enable the playing of a music video (if one is available) when listening to albums/artists/playlists, it would make a nice change from the static backgrounds and enhance the user experience.
Gotta say, this is a cool idea....
Xbox Music does this exact thing on Xbox One if you have a subscription and it is awesome for parties!
However, there would need to be a toggle switch for it because you wouldn't want to have to stream the videos to your phone when your just trying to play the music over a car stereo....
I’d like this as well for mood playlists, whenever I figure out how to do those. It would be cool if it automatically played the videos when available.

There’re sooo many feature requests :-S
Difficult to find something that you have already thought of and that has been posted already… But I digress to show my interest in the development.
I have figured out that when you have your Premium Music library named (I use MusicBrainz Picard), you can name the identical Music Video accordingly (like a Movies’ subtitle corresponding file). Now in the web-based player when you see all your tracks, it show(s)/(ed) a little screen icon; that there was a video associated with the song. It would be nice to have the player (if capable) (and not just the web-based one) play the video if it is available. In regards to the “mood playlists” that > @greatestNothing said:

, a visualization could be shown, otherwise revert to the “static backgrounds” referred to by NedtheNerd.
Well done so far though! Many improvements. Works very well on my Android Car-PC. Once you get used to the tiny taps that you have to go through, you can actually listen, watch and almost feel the entertainment!

That’s actually documented here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/205568377-Adding-Local-Artist-and-Music-Videos

Yes, that is where I am exonerated from not Harvard-referring. But I thank you for maintaining an interest on the forums :)>-
The point of this thread, is to request features (yes I have read the Feature Request stickies) and I thought I would open the light on something I would like to see happen that has been mentioned already. It has not been that long ago since @NedtheNerd started this thread, but I’m sure there’s a similar Feature Request or two floating out there in the land of the text-based thoughts, aka these Forums.
I am someone that does like to RTFM and appreciate the effort for documentation. If it is polluted with ambiguity, then it deters interest of meat that pays for things and also defeats the purpose of a system that is supposed to save you time and offer you a pleasurable experience.
My 5 NibbleCoins.
Just to put my 2 pennies worth. This is the reason I actually bought the plex plus. “Your music is matched with Vevo’s catalog of over 140,000 HD music videos and automatically made available for you to stream without interruption.” The without interruption is a bit misleading. I thought that I’d be able to play a playlist or album and if a Plex had matched that song it would be “automatically made available for you to stream without interruption”
That being said…Plex is awesome, it has tempted me away from Kodi which I have used for years. I’m sure this isn’t a huge feature request so hopefully someone will see it and realise it would be a great addition
Same here I would love to see this feature. I too misunderstood and purchased plex pass thinking that it would play a video if available if not fall back to audio. Plex is awesome and very well thought out. Here’s hoping this to be a reality soon.
If $musicVideo = true; then
play $musicVideo
elseif;
play $musicAudio

“Without interruption” refers to not playing advertisements, which Vevo normally inserts when you play videos on their site.
I know that now lol. I said it was misleading not a lie. Maybe it should say “without adverts”.
Yes please. I also bought plex pass thinking music videos worked like this.
I primarily chromecast music to my TV, so I would love to have this feature.
Count me ad a yes vote. I also bought plex lifetime thinking id have videos play seemlessly during a playlist. In general im finding plex music a bit underwhelming. Having a new years party tonight and been experimenting all morning. Music needs a bit more pizzaz. Show some lyrics, vids, alternate pictures. I like showing plex off and usually it impresses.
We need this!
Any News??
Please add this!!!
I just bought Plex Pass with the understanding it worked this way also. Like others have said a per device setting to enable playing local (or Vevo) Music Video for songs in a playlist that have a video. If no video play audio only instead.
Guess I’ll continue adding Music Videos as Movies so i can watch them in a Playlist until this is added.
I’d sure like to see what was said in any of Plex’s statements that would give the impression that Plex worked this way. Nothing ever gave me that impression.
This would be a huge win for me if the Plex Team implements this feature. I’m a music video junkie and have an extensive collection. I went through my files and made sure that the M4A and M4V files had identical names, which worked because now my songs indicate there’s a music video attached. Being able to shuffle music videos by artist or genre would make my Plex Pass 1000% worth it.
FWIW, Groove on Xbox One supposedly has this feature implemented but I’ve never been able to get it to work even though I switched the feature on in settings.
Another vote.
I need to see something happen to the Premium Music section in FreeBSD or I don’t see any reason to pay again. I purchased to get the videos and gracenote and nothing I wanted works in BSD =P
Gotta give me something!
