I want a (agent? channel? script, preferably in Python 2.7) to show shared friends a friendly reminder picture (could be made by me) or small (not made by me) video asking them to watch content from (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, insert other big streaming provider her) 3rd party provider, if that 3rd party provider has content I also have.
I’m asking here, because I don’t expect Plex Devs to truly ever include this functionality in Plex. Honestly, I understand. There’s so much more I want them to include that they’ve not even hinted at yet. (Server controlled guest bitrate anyone? Max streams / bitrate, server controled anyone??)
Though I’m selective and trust most of my shared friends to not watch content from my server if it’s already available from other services they subscribe to, occasionally I find someone watching something I know is available elsewhere on services they have.
With my 300gb ‘cap’, I watch every byte.
In my minds eye, I imagine a daily check of the major other providers compared to my content. If a match is made, script marks in it’s db a gotcha. If a gotcha is watched remotely or by non-root/owner, it puts up a pre-roll image or reminder saying 'hey, we see this might be available on your PAID services…unless you want to PAY JamminR, please verify you can’t watch this elsewhere. After some time, it would continue on.
Perhaps that last statement is too oriented to my own use.
You get my idea I hope though.
