Problem with Photo are not correct sorted.

I have the following problem. In the folder are photos and videos.

Pferderennbahn 0001.m4v
Pferderennbahn 0002.jpg
Pferderennbahn 0003.jpg
Pferderennbahn 0004.m4v
Pferderennbahn 0005.m4v
Pferderennbahn 0006.m4v

With Plex Server on Synology Version 1.5.3.3580 everting is perfect. The
files are sorted by name.

With Plex Server Version 1.8.1.4139

Pferderennbahn 0002.jpg
Pferderennbahn 0003.jpg
Pferderennbahn 0006.m4v
Pferderennbahn 0005.m4v
Pferderennbahn 0004.m4v
Pferderennbahn 0001.m4v

I have test everting I change the filenames . I think it is a problem with the new timeline feature.

Have anyone a idea?

Plex seems to have changed to using the “Time taken” encoded in the EXIF information of photos as the default sort order and doesn’t seem to offer an easy way to change this. I’m also rather pissed off by this. In fact, if PLEX can’t find that information in the files, it seems to revert to sorting according to the file name (or it might be the file creation date/time, which by the way I did an experiment to see if it was the EXIF data that is causing troubles, corresponds to the file name order).

Could a developer please answer this question? I’m starting to get pissed off too. Why pay for the PlexPass???

Hi, I have the same problem. The pictures should be sorted by name.
plex is running on windows10.

Same here with Plex installation on Win 2008 Server. The name sorting is also not working on all iOS apps (see also: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/302456/ios-app-sorting-by-name-not-working-for-photo-libraries)

I don‘t understand we’re is the problem for sort by simple filename? At first it was not allowed to have videos in the picture library. Than it was no problem. But now all the videos an the end of the folder sorted. The system look only for the EXIF entry’s. But the problem videos have no EXIF. Now I use von Synology the DS Photo, there is no problem with sorted by filename. The Plex Pass I canceled.

Next server-update (1.12.0.4829). Still no fix.

I know. Let’s hope some developer will see this. I am sure the fix would be quite easy (sorting ascending and descending).

Version 1.12.1.4871 It works…

Yes, after 7 months the problem is solved.
