I know this is old now, but I agree this would be very nice to have. After I have seen a movie a few times, usually I can visualize it. When I am working away from the server location, it would be nice to be able to just listen to movies to save on bandwidth!
This is a request for a button (maybe in a menu or settings screen) in the client on to stream only the audio of any video file.
This would be good for listening to a video when driving or exersizing when you shouldn't or can't watch the screen.
This would save battery and bandwitdth but still allow you to enjoy your content.
I just don't want crash because video blinded me at night with the phone in its mount on my dash. I dislike leaving the phone in the passenger seat face down, I'd prefer to be able to keep it on my dash, We need this feature! It is a safety enhancement! In the mean time, my phone is melting through the seat of my car at night, just to keep myself on the road.
This would be especially nice in conjunction with the new DVR features, since content from transcoding-incapable tuners such as the HDHomeRun Connect can be very bandwidth-intensive, and direct streaming over the internet is glitchy at best and unusable otherwise. If I just want to hear the morning news, I’d rather have only audio than a rebuffering pause every few seconds.
