Getting this on my C9 as well, including movies where the audio is in FLAC. Any progress or is this just getting ignored?
Well, still waiting. So… Media Monkey with DLNA is the solution still. Old faithful
I’m having this issue on my C8 as well. Can’t seem to find a solution. Flac plays on web, but not on LG C8 on latest firmware and latest plex.
flac in general works, just higher frequencies for high-res tracks don’t play nice. But all tracks in the 16bit 44.1-48khz seem to work just fine with 24bit and 44.1khz as well. 24bit/192khz are a killer tho. They all play back just fine using DLNA from a player pushing to either the C8 or the receiver as DNLA Players.
i’m using the C8 plex app and 24bit/192khz files are not working. tried native LG music app via DLNA and it couldn’t find my music files. Is there no way to support hi res flac on LG? files are working fine over the web interface on my laptop.
I’ve not used DLNA playing with my C8 in that way. I’ve used Media Monkey to direct play that way to either the receiver (Denon) or to the C8 directly. Both work. I’ve not tried it FROM the TV directly to the DLNA server.
So far, the plex app on the C8 does not handle the files with direct play or just in general at all.
I also recently found issues playing FLAC files to my B&O Eclipse TV (Which is a C7 LG panel and Webos)
- FLAC Files get transcoded to AAC, while they play perfectly with the native LG audio player (Which has a terrible interface…) or Xplay
- 24/96 FLAC files do not play at all, but do play in Xplay or the native LG app
- NEW to this post: The player is inconsistent in playing a FLAC album. Sometimes it plays individual tracks nicely after the previous track (although not gapless, another topic) but sometimes it pauses for 10 seconds and shows the coutdown wheel before going to the next track. I cannot determine what triggers this behaviour………
I’ve not used it that way. Have you tried pushing directly to your receiver via DLNA? I have a Denon X3400H. Just make sure your playback audio is set to original in the receiver. Mine was set to 128kbps mp3 which was a bummer wondering why my 24/192 flac files sounded like mud.
The B&O Eclipse TV is the receiver. It has audio functionality built onto the LG panel, and spits this out to the high-end active B&O loudspeakers. All integrated and not much to adjust unfortunately…
Is it a soundbar?
The same thing happens to me playing flac music, but if I use the XPlay app on the same tvlg it works correctly. Any solution? I would like to use the official Plex app. Plex Webos version 4.29.4
I am with you. Same thing. In order to play FLAC I use Play-Fi but you need a AVR that supports it. Waiting patiently for Plex to update the app. There is nothing else we can do.
I wrote about this 5-6 months ago and never received a reply. Sad that Plex won’t address this issue. Anything higher than cd quality on the LG plex app, gives the H4 error.
Seems like this is being ignored by Plex
Yes, I agree with you. I am one of the lucky one’s since I have Play-Fi and I can stream HD FLAC direct from my NAS to my Anthem AVR. That is the only way for me to do it.
You can try XPlay and check - apparently this LG WebOS app is able to play all FLAC files.
I hear some good and bad comments about this app.
XPlay is no longer being supported, and is pretty tired
Well, it works perfectly on my new LG OLED TV. For my purpose (photos and music) it plays everything Direct. Finally I can listen my High Quality FLAC music. Bonus is the ability to manage slide shows timings. I gave up on Plex for WebOS.
Im having this issue too. Thankfully, it uses next to no cpu resources. I’m guessing the explanation is similar to why the lg app doesn’t have a secure connection.
Shame this doesn’t get fixed, would be nice with an easy way to listen to surround sound albums
The transcoding issue is solved in the new LG app preview!!!
Could you tell me what version that might be? As of today I am still unable to play FLAC without transcoding.
Do you know if the issue with TrueHD/DTS-HD audio being transcoded is fixed as well, or is lossless audio for movies still not working? I have been struggling with this for so long, that I’m minutes away from dropping Plex and finding another solution :-/
