Continuous Autoplay

Clearly a popular topic among Plex users on this forum. A user adjustable stop, or a way to set playlists to play uninterrupted until the end - seems like a glaring oversight by the developers.

Please! There needs to be a way to completely disable the arbitrary timer, as well as the interstitial post-play screens that pop up between videos. I have a library of music videos, MTV bumpers, and Beavis and Butt-Head spots that I like to put on random play. I want these videos to play continuously and uninterrupted. Having my mock-MTV station be interrupted by countdowns all the time is a real drag.

Create a playlist of the videos. The post-play screen will not appear for playlists.

But… why? We just want a simple tick mark to turn OFF the post-play screen entirely also for regular library sections, and/or enable one to set the countdown timer for the post-play screen (i.e. to 0 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds). Seems like a very minor feature that has been requested by many many people over the years (i.e. ever since the post-play screen was created). This feature would be greatly appreciated by many, amongst others those that have little kids that just want continuous play of library sections.

playlists in plex suck.

Would love to have better options for Auto Play. My wife and I watch TV shows on Plex every night to help fall asleep (Roku player) but currently the auto play stops the episode, takes us back to the menu, starts a 15 second counter, then starts the next episode.

Would be amazing to have the option to set how many seconds the counter is AND have the counter start before the previous episode ends. So if you set a 15 second counter, the 15 seconds starts when there is 15 seconds of the previous episode left. More like Netflix/Hulu’s auto-play.

Continuous Autoplay works just fine on the Ruko and IMHO we don’t need timer to start before the episode ends…

We also do the same thing, fall asleep while watching something on PLEX with our Rokus… Once you start your first episode, push down on the D-pad, then go left to the loop symbol, then press OK once to play the next episode when finished, or twice to replay the same episode… Works great here, plays all night long!!!

There truly should be a setting to allow people to stream continuously without interruption. I have pets that watch tv all day and they don’t have access to a remote. I would gladly pay for Plex but won’t until that feature is finally available. Without this feature I can’t cut the cord which is pretty frustrating. Thank you for your consideration!

Even with a playlist, it stops after 2 hours on my Amazon Fire tablet and my Chromecast.

For the time being, I’m switching over to VLC media player since it plays my playlist uninterrupted and it can stream to my Chromcast as well. Hopefully Plex eventually adds this feature as well. I know some people are recommending Videostream, but VLC media player is much more stable in my opinion.

Please prioritise this for users to set the countdown time.

It’s so frustrating for heavy tv show users and make the whole user experience much worse.

15 seconds between episode on Apple TV and Plex Mac App is way to long. 5 seconds would be more than enough.

Thanks

Continuous play is technically possible by manually editing configurations per this reddit thread: https://reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/8mgr5r/how_to_disablechange_15_second_autoplay_delay/. I was able to do this on my box without an issue.

However, given that this is a timer set for plex and it can be done in a pretty arbitrary way, if we cannot have a frontend option for this can there be a configuration file we can edit where the value will be held? The issue with this fix is every update on the client will break the behavior. I’d really like to see native support in all variants of the plex client where this functionality is baseline

Another + vote for this. Very annoying that I have to hit next when it pauses after two hours. It’s frustrating that after 3 episodes it stops playing. What good is a built-in playlist if it doesn’t actually play the list?

Any word on this? Even playlists stop after 2 hours when using Chromecast. I understand why netflix and other services would require this but on our own servers, using our own wifi and/or bandwidth? This would be a super fast and easy change to make from a development perspective and would make a lot of paying customers happy. Please make this happen.

I don’t think this will ever be addressed. One would like to say that Plex listens to it’s users, but we all know that’s not true. Plex is a business and they are active working on areas of their product in which they feel will make them or their partners money. Case and point Tidal support.

The only way this will ever be addressed if there is an outpouring from the user base like when Plex threw the Roku client under the bus. Until then Plex will do nothing to address this.

Another + vote on the Android app on Fire TV devices. The 10sec countdown is fine, but completely stopping playback after a period of time without user input, and no way to disable, is ludicrous.

Add my vote for controlling continuous playback myself. The 2 hour limit, even with playlists, is dumb and arbitrary. Let your users decide how they want to use Plex or they may find another solution.

Yea, I really need this.
Plex, I like to have commercials between episodes cause I just feel nostalgic to do so.
Please make this a thing.

Please implement the option to change this on all apps for all different platforms. Having Plex play non-stop is a must for me as well.
