DS420+ @ DSM 7.1 here with a Geminilake CPU. Following I can see happening on my PMS setup (spk installed, no Docker):
VaapiDriver=“i965” in Preferences: Transcoding speed at about 2.5x, but no “(hw)” there, so I guess it just ignores my hardware transcoding.
VaapiDriver=“i965” NOT in Preferences: Transcoding speed at about 0.2x, (hw) braces are there. This was with the latest 1.32.4. So it’s unusable… With your 1.32.5 version and driver copied over it is at about 0.9x speed, so still way too slow compared to the i965 solution above.
In DSM 6 all was fine with directly calling i965 VAAPI and the speed increase by doing so was astonishing, now Plex seems to have two options: Slow hw transcode or NO hw transcode and more speed. I wonder what might be wrong here though. Others are happily running Plex with hw acceleration as it seems…

EDIT: NEVER try to drag and drop a file off a ZIP into the Brwoser with open Synology File Manager… It was 0 kB in size. New logs and quite nice speed now:

No problems with subtitle burning when using i965, but there is a new issue since 1.32.1 or 1.32.2 with i965 now apparently.
I tried to update to 1.32.5.7210 coming from 1.32.5.7145 and I wonder if I have to do aynthing regarding the i965_drv_video.so file in Cache. HW transcoder still is in a bad mood as it seems.
