[implemented] Feature request: disable transcoding

Oh my gosh this might be my number one gripe with plex. I’ve even set up separate libraries for 4K versus 1080p content. I don’t even want my server to try transcoding the 4K. Fortunately I’m the only one viewing that library (LAN), but the other arguments above apply to my 1080 content. All the clients are on a decent connection so they should get the full quality.

    • I’m curious, if this has been discussed so much, why has only one person voted for it (plus myself, for a total of 2 votes now)?

We need more votes!

I also issued my vote. We should be asking people in other forum threads that touch the subject of disabling transcoding to vote here.

If the option could be added to Emby, I guess it can be added to Plex as well.
The way Emby currently disables transcoding is per user:

I would also like to see this happening in Plex.
Thing is, there are several forum posts regarding turning off the transcoder, they should be merged into a single thread.
