[Implemented] Fix the gaping security holes

Agreed. I understand the need to CYA legally, but don't be naive or feign ignorance.

Too bad that security isn't sexy, while getting your client on major TV brands is, though.

Surprising this still hasn't been addressed even after doubling the Plexpass lifetime subscription cost back in November.

6-months since then and other projects and advancements have come out and yet we sit here possibly being exploited with no solution or even acknowledgement.

Very frustrating indeed.

I guess the only solution is to setup a personal OpenVPN directly to your home server and access the content that way. Security may not be sexy, but there's no way I'm catching anything from a pretty App in a tight UI. I Expect this from freeware, not a high-class software like you, Plex.

I came to the forums specifically after noticing and wondering about this issue. Surprised to find out the extent of it.

Interesting article on Netflix just now starting to encrypt their video streams.

This should be the highest priority, having my server hacked isn't acceptable!

I see this isn't going to be resolved, so I just cancelled my subscription.  I'll look for alternatives.

As mentioned in another thread, they are integrating a fix for this:

Funny that you mention Scott, he’s been working closely with me on the topic.

We’re moving into client integration now, so won’t be too much longer now

There is also this quote:

I understand your frustration. It’s taken us a while for a number of reasons, not least because we wanted a solution which would work right for everyone, not just people who can use openssl in a terminal. It won’t be too much longer now, promise.

A fix is almost here
