I think we all need to make sure we leave reviews in the app stores of our experience , so others can at least make an informed choice.
I was going to make a thread just like this last week when I reached my current level of frustration with this as well.
They clearly do 0 testing of any of this outside of what I have to guess is the āgoldenā config that they feel works fine.
Switch to channelsdvr. She aināt as pretty, but it just worksā¦and the developer actually responds to problems when they come up.
The way Plex just closed the TV everywhere request thread should tell everyone here exactly how much Plex cares about live tv.
This is the only reason I purchased lifetime. And it has also rarely worked properly for me.
I gave up on recording much a while back- but live tv not working is the frustrating part for me. For months. Works on my server PC, but not on my FireTV. Just crashes or exists at least every 30m.
Things have gotten even worse since I started this thread. There continue to be many posts about āPlay From Startā for an active recording going live instead ā of course, then spoiling the score if itās a sports event.
Now getting a lot of posts about the web player consistently crapping out after 3 minutes of Live TV. Happens to me too.
When someone takes money for a service and then doesnāt provide the service, thereās a word for that isnāt there?
Chiming in with the same issues. Running latest version on Win10, using Happauge USB tuner. The consistent fix Iāve found is to delete the DVR and then set it up again. So far, seems to work. But obviously I canāt actually DVR anything and itās irritating and time consuming. I have a vacation place with no cable/antenna service, so I gave it a shot on my already-existing Plex server and it seemed to work great the first day. Bought the pass as a result andā¦Well you know, itās broke. Any update?
Still being advertised as part of a Plex Pass even though it doesnāt even work properly in the Web Client, not to mention all the various problems that platform specific clients are having.
New user here of the Plex DVR and totally experiencing many of the issues above. One major one at the moment is Plex for some reason does not release a tuner for a long timer even after a show ends, which creates many issue.
Still cannot Start Watching Recording in Progress from Beginning(Failing)
We use Emby now for our DVR. I keep going back to try Plex DVR and keep getting disappointed because it still doesnāt work.
I hadnāt had any problems with scheduling a recording or watching a program after itās been recorded. Watching a program from the beginning that is being recorded constantly fails. So I am left to waiting for a program to finish recording to be able to watch it. So I switched to EMBY for my DVR.
Yes, Plexās retro VCR tape experience is not what Iām looking for either.
Iāve had to switch to Jellyfin for my live TV/DVR functions for the same reasons. Jellyfin is no match for Plex when it comes to TV and Movie libraries, but it seems like everything is more reliable in the TV/DVR function.
I hope they start dedicating some resources to fixing it some day.
Iāve been using Plex DVR for the last few weeks. So far I have not had any problem at all watching programs while they are being recorded. Of course, like others, if you select the option to start from the beginning it goes to live. But I can just go to the scrub bar and in a couple of seconds Iām at the beginning of the program. And can watch it with no issues while itās still recording. Iāve done that at least a couple dozen times, over the last few weeks.
Does the fact that my Plex install is on an NVMe make a difference? And could that be the reason I have no issues? Since the Samsung 970 EVO Plus Iām using is rated for over 1500MB/s( 12Gb/s)native write speeds. The baseline write speed it drops down to, after using the Turbo Write cache. Which has 3300MB/s(26.4Gb/s) write speeds.
No it works like that on my low powered NAS. Itās just when trying to watch sports having to hold something over the top left hand corner of the screen so you canāt see the score as you do it is not the best user experience.
Ah, so Iām not the only one thatās done that. On the plus side, the sale of cardboard is up.
Sounds like a new product. The Plex Shield ā the cardboard that you put on your screen as you rewind your sports to the beginning.
