To start, we encourage you to read our new blog post.
In an effort to help folks get through these trying times, we’re making our Live TV functionality free to all users for the next 3 months (through June 30). No Plex Pass required during this period! This lets you watch free, over-the-air broadcasts in any of your supported Plex player apps. There are some important notes about this:
- As usual, you’ll need a compatible tuner and antenna connected to your Plex Media Server, so that you can receive the over-the-air broadcasts.
- This does not include DVR. The ability to view Live TV with your setup will be free during this period, but DVR and other premium functionality do continue to require an active Plex Pass subscription.
- The free Live TV functionality will include 48 hours of guide data. (Plex Pass subscribers will continue enjoying the normal ~2 weeks of guide data.)
- As noted earlier, we’re committed to making the Live TV functionality available for free for 90 days.
- You’ll need to make sure that you’re running Plex Media Server version 1.18.9 or newer. See our Downloads page.
If you don’t already have a tuner and antenna, some of our partners have very graciously offered discounts to Plex users. You can find details on our website. (Note that some discounts may only be available for a very short time, so make sure to take a look.)
For new users, you can find documentation and other information in the Live TV & DVR section of our support site. Remember, though, that DVR functionality does still require an active Plex Pass.
