MovieFan's Database Tool for Plex

Blalala - I am seeing problems with your db file.  In your table that identifies the files to include in the playlist, there are text values where the database expects numbers.  This is corrupting the database so that it doesn't work properly.

Do you happen to have a backup of the db file before trying out my script?  I just want to check if it was something my script did.  I don't think it was, but ti doesn't hurt to check,.

I sent over the backup via PM, MovieFan!

It seems like the script corrupted the database. I can now add playlist in the WebApp using the backup.

Yeah.  I can't figure out what caused it but I put up a new version.  I tested it with your database and nothing got corrupted.

Wow! This is an awesome idea! I can't wait to give it a try! Thanks for creating this.

I tried the new version with my database. The playlist now shows up in the WebApp, but it can't be viewed. I get "Playlist could not be found". For my own playlist created in Ple before using the script, I get "Could not load playlist".

Also, the ' issue is still present. The error message still comes up.

Are you using the same playlist you sent me. I was able to get it to show on my end. It didn’t play because I don’t have your files but I didn’t get any error messages. I did notice that your files use what looked like a network path, while mine uses local paths.

Looks like you have a bigger issue on your end.  I just loaded your blank database on my system and I can see the music library you created.  I ran the import and the playlist was created and I can see it in the WebApp.  I can even hit play, although that part doesn't work.

Try reinstalling Plex.  You definitely have something wrong going on.

For the ' issue.  Are you using 0.2.2?  I can get it to work on my end.  I have a playlist I made with an ' in it and it works no problem.  I even took your playlist and added an ' in it and that also worked for me.

I did a reset on my whole database yesterday, but I haven't had time to try the playlist script today. I'll post when I have tested it.
Thanks a lot so far!

Try again with 0.2.1. I've added more error handling. Maybe it doesn't like your desktop, although that doesn't make sense, but try moving the folder to something outside of Window's control.

I solved this problem by manually adding sqlite to the system path but now....

when it first runs I get the message

Sqlite3.exe: Error: unknown option: -\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

so I used the change database option to point it to the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file and it says the database was changed successfully. I then choose import a new playlist and point it at a m3u file and it goes through the process reporting that the playlist was successfully added. I can now see it in the list playlist option and when I go into the Plex web app there is a listing for that playlist name but going into it, it is empty and says "this playlist has no items."

Two other things

1. Whenever I run the mscr again I always get the message quoted above and have to change the database each time I run it before being able to use it to list existing playlists or import new ones etc

2. After running the convertor and importing a playlist an insert.sql file is created in the folder where the mscr and mortscript etc files are.

Are you guys using Windows 8? I haven’t used it, but does it even have the registry still and the command prompt? I wonder if that could be the problem. On my Windows 7 machine I have no problems.

The script is looking for the registry and certain Windows system names. Could be the script doesn’t understand Windows 8. I will change the script so that if it can’t find the registry or the system names you can override it. Look for an updated version later tonight.

Yes I am on Windows 8 unfortunately, it does still have the registry and command prompt.

I just want to thank you for your time and help with this as well as making something that is/will be so useful in the first place.

Ok, new version up.  Should take care of those error messages.

The insert.sql is a temporary file I usee to reduce the number of screen flashed.  It should get deleted after it runs.

If you can PM me your db file and the m3u file, I can test it on my end to see why it said successful but won't list in the webapp.  I'm just hoping it didn't corrupt your file like it did to Blalala due to an error in my script from a previous version.  If you happened to have made a backup of the file, just put it back and try the script again.  If you don't have a backup, send me the bad file.  I figured out what the corruption is and can fix it.

I used the script with my new database, and it worked! :D

Though, I still get the ' error: http://oi61.tinypic.com/2061y74.jpg

I also tried adding a playlist with 2600 tracks. It showed up as a 0 track playlist in the WebApp.

Are you issuing Windows 8. There appears to be a flaw that ends up not actually adding the entries, even though it says it did. I’m looking into a fix.

Ok, new version with a few fixes.  I tested this with all 1800 songs in my database and everything worked fine.  Took a while to process but it did it.  I need to optimize this soon.

Still can't pin point the Windows 8 issue WolfBrother is dealing with.

Wonderful! My 150 track playlist worked. I'm trying my bigger playlist now.

I get the following error on the large list: http://oi59.tinypic.com/znljcp.jpg

It's probably something that's wrong with my files, but the error does not state which file is missing.

It’s probably just a blank line in the playlist. I checked for empty lines but not for lines filled with spaces. These lines didn’t affect the results.

Hey MovieFan, first of a big THANK YOU for creating a convenient way of importing m3u playlists to Plex, as it all works pretty well for me :)

Nevertheless I have a little problem. There are some german titles in my library, which use umlauts (ä, ö, ü, etc.). When I try to import playlist with such files, the script tells me, that these files can not be found and skips them. The playlist is created but all the titles with umlauts are missing. Is there any way to import these files as well?

I don’t have anything with those characters. I can make up some but might miss some. Can you pm me your db file and your playlist? This way I can check for sure with a wide variety of characters.
