Optimization or Frustration?

Not sure what you mean about “another landmine” (assuming you mean that and not land mind) , that thread is not specific to the Passport. That is a general issue.

What TV Shows are you having issues with? We can try it on our systems and maybe see what is happening.

And again, there are those of us that have no issues with the WD Passport Wireless pro. It works great for us. One user just posted he streamed three simultaneous streams on an airplane while travelling to Las Vegas. I have used it on the road a few times now, with the only issue being when it upgraded it’s firmware without asking me. The Plex part has been near perfect.

And as far as this statement: “because we’re not even aware of all of these issues until we really start
to dig into these matters which is a huge waste of time and energy.” - all of us are not aware of issues, it is a brand new product. Go ask the first owners of the Ford EXP about that experience. There was a reason the joke was that the EXP stood for “experimental prototype” (I lived it). Ford fully vetted that vehicle, it was even based off of a then current production vehicle.
Until a product gets used, it is tough to tell what is going to go wrong.

Let’s close this thread RSAVA. The issue I had with the OPTIMIZATION is based on a false expectation of how that function should work with the My Passport Pro. I’ll assume that Plex will change their instructions located at https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/228772/meta-data-for-tv-shows-not-downloading-with-my-passport-wireless-pro#latest so that other users will understand the limits of the optimization feature.

As for the new issue I have raised, I have created a new thread for that issue located here:

Gotcha. I’ll jump over there.
