@BigWheel
what are the devs thoughts internally on ageing or having a user setting to control ageing for the phototranscode cache of thumbnails… like I said… I have been using plex for comming up on a decade and I am sure that as my clients come and go… that there are likely optimized graphics for clients that are no longer in use.
Can I get in there, shut down the database, and delete the whole folder in command line… sure… but thats not very elegant or user friendly for folks that have never seen the command line
sigh/
Please stop responding to one another. there is absolutely no reason to say things like "perhaps you should not be allowed out in public… " that is personally attacking someone.
if you really think someone is being a troll do not respond to them. they want you to.
@BigWheel
While I have your attention, I have a post over in the linux setting of plex server regarding the transcode directory.
setting a custom transcode directroy path should make EVERY transcode task in that directory read and write to it… however I am finding that while the DVR and such are transcoding in the remote directory, using the plex sync function does not.
I find that there is activity in the remote transocode location but plex is still putting the sync file in the original transcode directory under sync+ folder… that should not be expected behaviour.
if a user has set the transcode directory under settings… the orignial transocode directory should not be used further and all functions should respect the requested path…
thanks

thanks for being an adult here and getting the kiddies in line… I appreciate that the devs have taken my tounge and cheek titled post for what it was… an observation that I am sure is not indicitive on how the devs would like their code to be performing so that it could be investigated and improved.
I can assure you that server appication settings are correct and permissions for this install are working correctly as well.
@danjames92 while this is a public forum it exists to be ‘constructive’ (not your personal trolling grounds) and since several folks here on just this thread alone didnt appreciate your words, tones and trolling, perhaps you should not be alowed out in public… perhaps plex will fix that as well…
It takes two to have an argument. Don’t call me a kid.

Nobody ever wins an argument so keep that in mind. Sometimes threads with provocative titles are necessary to get the proper attention from developers. I’ve done this several times not because I’m trying to anger Plex developers but because asking nicely often fails to get the response from people like these kind of threads.
Now to contribute to thread a bit, I kind of agree with the OP. I’ve been using Plex since it started and I do see more storage being used even though I trim my library very often. I’m not a developer but it does seem like “The Butler” could do a bit more housekeeping in regards to clearing out old files, logs and unused items.
Cheers,
