Whelp, sorry to say this, but I think I’m done. It’s all saved in accordance with the guide, but nothing happens. I think I’m going to go back to Kodi, which had no problem importing the media, but couldn’t be seen by half the devices in my house for some reason. There’s no way that can be as difficult a thing to fix as this.
The questions you are asking are basic OS operational tasks. Not to disparage or trying to insult you but I suggest you hit the library or a bookstore to get Linux for Dummies.

And thus we get to why nobody is willing to give Linux a chance. Nobody who knows anything is actually willing to help them learn enough to set up the one small specific task they need that just might lead them to learning to do it for even more things.
Last I checked, Linux is doing just fine as it is used by the largest tech firms for the backend servers. The desktop Linux is not geared for the novice even if its Ubuntu. This is why Chromebooks are popular after Windows and macOS. Again if you do not have the most basic concepts of using Linux, you will continually ask to be fed fish instead of catching it yourself. Learning things like *nix file permissions adhoc without reading a primer on Linux via a proper textbook, will only frustrate you and those that try to help you. You are going to have to learn to walk before you can run.
I have basic Linux knowledge. Like I said, while I’m pretty new I HAVE had to use Linux for troubleshooting in the past, and have done so with no issue.
But I can now say with 100% certainty that the guide I was given here is junk. I came here first in the expectation that it was a Plex-specific issue, but after all this trouble I decided to Google other alternatives.
The first result, a very simple guide on how to manually mount the drive, worked first try.
It’s interesting that only someone who calls it junk can’t make it work.
Everyone else who’s used it had NO trouble whatsoever.
Well, when following the directions perfectly doesn’t work, but a completely different set of directions works fine, it’s not at all unreasonable to refer to the guide that produced no results as junk.
Please go troll somewhere else.
