Alright I’ll try that. Which forum?
Was looking for a useful place to chime in! I use the player on Android, in Windows and would use it on the apple tv also if it was supported but unless that’s changed lately it isn’t
One beef first of all: If you use equalizer in your amp, it will be ‘gone’ when you close & restart amp again (the settings are there but the equalizer is inactive regardless of whether it indicates as active or not - just deactivate and reactivate and you hear the difference clearly). Not a significant problem obviously, but eh, mentioning it anyway.
Second, one wish down the road which would make this completely perfect - for my use: A sleep timer function, ideally like what PowerAmp has (play for X minutes more, with an option to finish playing the song it’s on at the time of expiry). It’s the only thing that’s “significant” to me that PlexAmp doesn’t have, else I’d swap entirely to PlexAmp instead of PowerAmp on my phone.
Third: I love this thing so much. I already do everything via Plex so getting a useful music player is just wonderful. There are small bugs here and there (resize interface and you may have issues hitting the player elements, the abovementioned equalizer issue, and I’d like a cleaner way to close the player when so wanted, but in everything essential it does all I want and does it beautifully.
And while I realize this will sound weird, I want an option to pay for this thing, at least some nominal sum, because I want development of it to continue so it’ll grow into the undisputed best option. I guess that entails a certain commitment to support and stability that perhaps might not be wanted atm but hopefully soon!
Thanks again!
Long time Plex and Plexamp user from when it was first release. I’ve always used Plex for my music collection, must be 10 years now.
I have to say that Plexamp 3 is awesome. I use it at work on a PC, at home on an Android tablet and mobile on my Android phone. The caching feature is amazing as I used to get buffering etc on the standard Plex client but now I can drive and be mobile without any issues.
Downloading albums is far easier than before for when I’m travelling with limited 4G.
My only gripe is that Library Radio seems to pick a lot of the same songs. I use the Plex Music Scanner and rescanned the whole library which is 30k of songs recently to see if it improved but it doesn’t seem to.
I guess I just wanted to say thanks for building it.
Fixed in latest!
Yes, I found this too. When I select library radio it picks the same tracks and mixes very few new titles in.
I guess because the new titles have no rating? (it has unlimited degrees of freedom set)
I simply generated a Playlist with all my music and am playing it at random.
But i think all titles random should be a funktion without having to generate a playlist.
I suspect this to be a weakness of the algorithm used more than PlexAmp itself, as I find the shuffle function on several apps and devices (heck my da*n car stereo insists on playing from two specific albums (one from a specific solo artist and another from that same solo artist’s band project) every few songs despite the usb stick the stereo plays from having some ~200 odd albums to shuffle between).
There just isn’t many ‘true random’ functions in use out there, the industry by and large seems to be working from the ‘good enough’ approach (reasonable to a point - you don’t want to ‘waste’ resources on something that isn’t a real problem for most).
But yeah would be nice to switch it up a bit, so to speak.
